Are these 82V 5.0AH batteries and chargers compatible with the Greenworks Pro 80V battery systems? Both Zero Turns use the same CRZ428 part number , but the Commercial shows 82V and the Pro shows 80V. Is it just marketing?
It is super confusing that Greenworks decided to market the Greenworks Pro CRZ28 (80V) and Greenworks Pro CRZ428 (82V) product as the same model, but they use different battery platforms. The 80V line is a consumer line and supported by a limited amount of authorized service centers across the US and the 82V line is their commercial line that is sold by authorized dealers across the United States. The build quality of the 82V battery is far superior to the 80V and the 82V supports all of the commercial-grade tools that are sold by Greenworks Commercial, while the 80V batteries are compatible with the standard consumer tools sold at the box stores.
What does 4G/GPS connectivity mean more specifically? Does the mower have a cell radio in it? Does Greenworks contract with, say, Verizon or AT&T? Does a Greenworks office monitor by this connection the location and status of the mower? Or, does such monitoring require the Greenworks app on a smartphone? Thanks.
Greenworks must have a contract with a cell carrier but has not released which carrier they have partnered with. This can connect to a 4G network and has a GPS chip for positioning using the Greenworks app. I do not believe Greenworks "watches" the mowers individually but I'm sure they have some way to monitor their use...it's the 2020's, privacy is no more :(. The only way to connect to the mower is through the app, and I believe you can only do that after it is registered in your name as there is a one-time activation code tied to each model/serial that you receive after registration.
